About Gizem Yasa & Coracor

How My Story Became Coracor's

For a long time now, the story of Istanbul has inspired me to create jewelry. My creations are my endeavor to retell the mysterious and magical legends and lore of a city where east embraces west in harmony.

Growing up in Istanbul, I appreciated the confluence of cultures and took an undergraduate degree in economics at the University of Chicago, which enabled me to combine my artistic impulses with business savvy.

After graduation, I continued my journey to New York in order to span new horizons and share my creations, my love, and my memories of Istanbul from the capital of the world.

The name of my brand Coracor, Latin for “heart to heart,” is yet another expression of this love. You can find Istanbul, my past, my future and my dreams in every single piece I create.

About the Jewelry

Inspired by Ottoman art and jewelry designs, Coracor achieves its distinctive style by combining very old artisanal techniques such as burnished or hammered finishing with modern design concepts. It is a contemporary line featuring versatile pieces that can be worn for any occasion to accent an ensemble or to make a statement.

All of Coracor's designs are either sterling silver or 22k gold vermeil adorned with a range of semiprecious stones such as different kinds of agate, chalcedony, citrine, amethyst, tourmaline and fresh water pearls. Every single piece is hand-crafted and thus boasts a one-of-a-kind quality.
